Stratospherian
– has the experience within our team to assist
you at any and all stages of the product life cycle.
These are simplifications; there is
a lot more depth to them. The steps are usually in this
order – but not limited to.
STEP 1 – CONSUMER PROBLEM?
There is a problem that can be solved with a product.
STEP 2 – SALES POTENTIAL ANALYSIS
Are there are enough people out there that need this
potential product.
STEP 3 – COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS
Is the product creating a new category or entering into
an established market with competition?
STEP 4 – PATENT SEARCH
This is where we like to do a very detailed patent search.
The results will often guide the development process.
If steps one thru four show promise
for the potential product – it’s time to
really invest into the development process and move
on to the next steps.
STEP 5 – PROOF OF CONCEPT - CREATING AND TWEAKING
THE ROUGH PRODUCT.
This will most likely not be the finished product, but
it will give you the ability to work with and make sure
the product will solve the consumer problem.
STEP 6 – FINE TUNING FOR FUNCTIONALITY AND ASTHETICS.
This will often mean bringing in our designers to make
the product pleasing to the eye and enjoyable to use.
STEP 7 – FILING FOR PROTECTION – Provisional,
Design and Utility Patents. It works and there is a
market for it, protection is important for talking with
manufacturers,potential customers and consumers.
STEP 8 – BRANDING - Product name creation.
A great consumer product needs a great memorable name.
STEP 9 – PACKAGE DESIGN
For retail products, packaging is as important as the
actual product itself.
STEP 10 – FINDING A MANUFACTURER
If you do not have a manufacturing track record / previous
relationships this becomes one of the toughest steps
to complete timely and cost effectively. We can help.
STEP 11 – MANUFACTURING
Now that you have a manufacturer – the product
just doesn’t show up at your door. There are a
lot of steps in here to insure the product is made /
packaged/ and shipped correctly.
STEP 12 – SALES & MARKETING MATERIALS –
print, radio, and internet.
You have to be ready with this before you can sell your
product. Different products will need different levels.
STEP 13 – SALES
A strong sales team is essential to getting it into
retailers.
STEP 14 – PR – Public Relations
If your product is innovative – we can have the
media tell others about it. For a fraction of what it
would cost to advertise.
STEP 15 – ADVERTISING & MARKETING
The product is out there – let’s get our
target market to purchase it.
